GANGTOK, 18 Dec: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha’s PS Tamang [Golay] has congratulated the Parliament and the people on the Lokpal Bill being passed by both houses of the Parliament. Crediting Anna Hazare’s efforts for the bill being passed Mr Tamang has termed it as a historic step.
In a press release, Mr Tamang on behalf of SKM party has also congratulated Anna and his supporters. The success of Arvind Kerjiwal who was part of Anna’s movement and his party Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi proves that people will no longer tolerate corruption and need a strong Lokayukta in the state, he has stated.
Terming the passage of the Lokpal Bill in the Parliament as a victory of the people he has further stated that this will control corruption in the country and give the people a healthy system. He goes on to accuse the State government of injustice for attempting to obstruct CBI investigation in the state.
Mr. Tamang has further demanded the constitution of a strong Lokayukta in the state for investigating corruption cases here.
In another press release, SKM has criticized the Chief Minister’s statement made at a function in West Sikkim on 17 December where he accused SKM of arson and said that it has torched 100 vehicles till now. SKM in turn has accused the ruling party for incidents of vehicle torching and other political violence.
