GANGTOK, 19 Dec: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha has asked the State government to adopt the Supreme Court guidelines on the use of VIP lights in the State. The party has said that only VIPs holding constitutional posts should be allowed VIP lights on their vehicles.
In a press release, SKM has criticized the state government for going overboard with VIP lights. The party has asked the state government to immediately amend the law related to the provision of VIP lights and reveal the total number of people using VIP lights in Sikkim.
Sikkim with just over 6 lakh population and has ten times the required number of VIPs with those close to the Chief Minister being provided VIP status, the release alleges.
