GANGTOK, 16 Dec: Boys’ Club has emerged the champion of the Gangtok-leg of the Snow Lion Cup Under-14 Boys Football Tournament held here at Paljor Stadium. In a contesting final match played this afternoon, Boys’ Club outplayed Sanju Pradhan Football Academy of Sombaria 2-0.
The winning and runners-up team players were provided with certificates.
The final match had ADGP, Sikkim Police, SD Negi, as the chief guest, who was accompanied by Sikkim Football Association general secretary, Menla Ethenpa as the guest of honour, USFC CEO, Bhaichung Bhutia, Denzong Boyz president Phurba Sherpa and Sports & Youth Affairs Deputy Director, Thupden Rapgyal.
A total of eleven teams had participated in the tournament and were divided into two groups playing league matches. Boys’ Club had topped Group A while Sanju Pradhan FA was the winner of Group B.
Now, Boys’ Club will take on the winner of Darjeeling and Kalimpong legs of the tournament in the final round of the tournament which is being organized by the United Sikkim Football Club.
The Darjeeling leg of the tournament will begin 19 December followed by Kalimpong from 22 December onwards and the winners of the three venues will play a triangular tournament.
