GANGTOK, 17 Dec: Tulku Karma Tsultrim Tenzin Thinley Jangpo, recognized as the third incarnation of Lama Ugyen Tenzing Rinpoche of Rumtek who lived in the early half of the last century, was enthroned as per Karma Kagyu traditions at the Karmapa Monastery in Bodh Gaya where Kagyu Monlam Chenmo is currently underway. Tulku Jangpo was earlier recognised by Kyabje Shamarpa Rinpoche.
A press release informs that the enthronement ceremony was presided over by the 17th Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje, amid hundreds of monks and lay devotees from Sikkim, Bhutan, Nepal, etc.
Born to Dawa Lepcha and Pemden Lepcha of Rey Mindu here in East Sikkim, Tulku Karma Tsultrim Tenzin Thinley “possesses inherent and intrinsic intelligence with spontaneous inclination towards Buddha dharma, the young reincarnate is being groomed most sensitively here at the local Rey Mindu Monastery in East Sikkim”, an official communiqué details.
The release goes on to inform that Ugyen Tenzing Rinpoche, who also happened to be the uncle of the late LD Kazi, accomplished himself in the teachings and transmission of both the Kagyu and Nyingma traditions and was held in very high esteem by the then Buddhist masters of both the lineages. He was a contemporary of Chogyal Sidkeong Tulku and Alexander David Neel. The legendary Ajho Labrang Gomchen of Sikkim has been one of his greatest disciples, the release mentions.
