GANGTOK, 15 Nov: Three-day training on water security planning and village action plan for Village Water and Sanitation Committee [VWSC] under National Rural Drinking Water Programme was organized by Gram Vikas Kendra, Namthang in collaboration with Communication & Capacity Development unit here at the KVK,Conference hall.
A press release informs that the training was attended by six GPUs, VWSC members including SHG, ASHA, retired government employees,RDAs and NGO representatives.
The programme was inaugurated by Gram Vikas Adhikari, Robin Sewa, who spoke on the role and responsibility of VWSC at the village level and the importance for preparation of village water security plan.
Field Facilitator, BAC Namthang, Karna Bahadur Chettri gave a power point presentation onthe National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) and highlighted the importance of water quality and public health.
The programme was also addressed by resource person, Project coordinator CCDU,SIRD, CB Manger on the challenges of ensuring the quality of Rural Water supply scheme as well as the current situation of rural drinking water supply in Sikkim and the role of VWSC at the Gram panchayat level.
The key resource person Field Facilitator Namchi GVK, Sangeeta Pradhan gave a power point presentation and spoke about the need to prepare a village water security plan as well as Technical and Financial survey for spring source gravity flow schemes.
During the two-day training, PRA activities as well as community mapping and source-to-mouth activities were carried out.
