LARGE CARDAMOM AUCTION BY NERAMAC

Hee Gaon farmer fetches highest price of Rs. 1,050 per kg
GANGTOK, 15 Nov [PIB]: NERAMAC started the auction of large cardamom from 30 October this year and in the initial round, farmers received the maximum rate of Rs. 990 per kg of large cardamom. In the second auction held on 13 November, Shyam PD Limboo of Hee Gaon fetched the highest price of Rs. 1,050 per kg. The lowest price of Rs. 910 per kg was fetched by BM Tamang and JP Khandu both from Hee Gaon.
Since the inception of this auction programme, Hee Gaon farmers have shown a lot of interest and have been taking advantage of this type of transparent auction. This has been possible because of people like NK Limboo [Chairman STDC], Chandramaya Limboo [MLA, Dentam], SB Limboo and Janardan Basnet, all from Hee Gaon who put their best effort to make large cardamom auction a success.
Speaking on this occasion, PC Roy [Sr. Zonal Manager, NERAMAC] informed that the date of the third auction of large cardamom has been fixed as 27 November at the Spices Board premises at Singtam where more arrival of produce and participation of farmers and bidders is expected to make the programme more successful. He also expressed his gratitude to BM Jayram [Dy. Director, Spices Board, Gangtok] for extending necessary help in conducting such a programme successfully. A subsidized transport vehicle has also been provided for transportation of the materials of farmers, he further added.
