GANGTOK, 11 Nov: Bojoghari Senior Secondary School celebrated National Education Day today in observance of the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of Independent India.
Principal Chewang Doma Bhutia began the program with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and offering Khadas to a portrait of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad who was remembered at the school today as “a great freedom fighter who also laid the foundation of modern education in India”.
The Principal informed the gathering about the contributions of Maulana Azad and the students to not only think about the educational rights but also their duties as students.
Ritam Biswakarma (PGT History), in turn spoke on the modern education system and a rally was then taken out by students carrying placards highlighting the importance of the day.
