MANGAN, 14 Nov: The North District Legal Services Authority under State Legal Services Authority celebrated Children’s Day with children from destitute homes and other institutions today here at Zilla Bhawan in Mangan, North Sikkim.
The celebration had Zilla Adhakshya North, Anguli Lepcha as the chief guest along with the District Session Judge North, Jagat Rai, SDM Mangan, PW Lepcha, Judicial Magistrate North, Binay Sharma, students and teachers from different institutions and other officials.
The celebration had children from institutions such as Tarcon Lee, Wangdi Faith Home, Sheda [monastic schools] from Ringhim and Naday. A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the children. Likewise, monks from Ringhim Sheda presented a play on the life of Lord Buddha.
The North District Sessions Judge, Jagat Rai underlined that apart from enjoying themselves on the auspicious day, the children should also remember Chacha Nehru. Children are the future of the nation and parents should play an important role in shaping the future of the children, he added.
In her address, the chief guest highlighted about the importance of Children’s Day and further added that children should concentrate more on studies to ensure a bright future. The children of Sikkim are very lucky as our Chief Minister has provided all the required facilities to students, she said.
The Judicial Magistrate North, Binay Sharma imparted information on Juvenile Justice Law on the day.
