GANGTOK, 14 Nov: Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association felicitated four of its players who represented India in the 8th World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship held in Bali, Indonesia, from 31 Oct to 03 Nov 2013.
In the senior team category, Trilok Subba, Amit Pradhan and Ganga Pradhan, reached the semifinals and lost against USA by a narrow margin. In the senior pairs category - Trilok Subba and Sabitri Pradhan - also reached the semifinals and lost against Chinese Taipei.
Trilok Subba, Amit Pradhan, Sabitri Pradhan and Ganga Pradhan were selected for the national team after winning golds in the 6th Nationals Taekwondo Poomsae championship held at Imphal, Manipur in August 2013.
They trained at MCM Dojang near White Hall for the Lusofonia Games and India Open International Taekwondo Championship scheduled to be held in the month of January 2014.
Rajen Subba, the SATA joint secretary, in a press release issued today, conveys, “It’s a great achievement to reached till semifinal in the WTF Taekwondo Poomsae World Championship were world top class athlete competes.”
SATA president YB Thapa has also welcomed their performance as a big achievement for the State and congratulated the martial artists.
