GANGTOK, 11 Oct: The Sikkim Sub-ordinate Accounts Service Association elected a new central executive committee following elections held yesterday at Janta Bhawan here. Meen Prakash Rai has been elected president with Ashish Tamang as vice president, Dawa Sherpa as general secretary and Prakash Chandra Gurung as publicity secretary, a press release of the association informs.
Out of the eleven posts in the CEC of the association, elections were held for the posts of President, general secretary, joint secretary-II and publicity secretary, it is informed. The remaining seven seats were uncontested.
The elections were conducted by an election committee headed by Hira Narayan Pradhan as chief election commissioner assisted by Sudeep Tamang and Beedur Gurung as election commissioners and ML Sharma [Deputy Director, Accounts] and PK Chettri [Accounts Officer, Finance Deptt] as election observers, the release adds.
Following the elections, the association discussed issues like qualifying service, grade pay of accountants and filling of vacant posts of Accounts Officers, the release informs.
