GANGTOK, 10 Dec [IPR]: The students enrolled under the Chief Minister’s Meritorious Scholarship Scheme at St. Xavier’s School in Pakyong have expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for providing them a “golden opportunity” to study in such a prestigious school. At present there are 75 students sponsored under Chief Minister’s Meritorious Scholarship Scheme at St. Xavier’s School.
These students of Classes VI, VII and VIII, in a letter to the Chief Minister of Sikkim, have lauded the state government scheme for providing an extraordinary opportunity for students from humble backgrounds.
While appreciating the environment of the school, the children have assured to study hard and become responsible citizens of the country. They would like to serve the society, state and the country with sincerity and dedication, they have stated.
The students in their letter have further stated that with proper guidance from the teachers they have been able to adjust themselves and have started participating in various extra-curricular activities like sports and music. It is commendable to note that one of them has also received the Rajya Puraskar from Bharat Scouts and Guides.
Here, it may be mentioned that this is for the first time that students have written a letter to the Chief Minister expressing their gratitude for providing them with such an opportunity.
