MLA inaugurates Kokaley Primary School’s new building

MANGAN, 08 Dec: The new school building of Government Primary School, Kokaley, under Tumin-Lingee constituency of East Sikkim was inaugurated on Saturday by area MLA, Chief Whip Ugen T Gyatso. Mr Gyatso was present as the chief guest accompanied by Member of State Planning Commission, Lhakila Tongden Lepcha and other officials.
The school also observed its Annual Day 2013 on the same day where a daylong program was organized by the SMC, SMDC and the school family which comprised of cultural performance by students, Lok Dohori by Kokaley Yuwa Sangh and sports events.
The function also saw the final match of the Late Kuber Nath Adhikari Memorial Inter Block Volleyball tournament which was played between Kaw ward and Chauridara ward where the latter won the match and lifted the trophy and cash award of Rs. 5000. The runners-up were awarded Rs. 3000 cash prize.
Zilla Member, Hemraj Adhikari on behalf of the people highlighted the demand for the upgradation of Kokaley Primary School to Upper Primary Level, construction of Kokaley Mandir and road connectivity in the village.
In her address, Ms. Lepcha underlined the importance of education and further appealed to all the people to give good education to their children.  She further appealed to all the panchayat members to play an active role for the development of the society and village.
Addressing the function, the chief guest highlighted that more than 42 kms for new road construction has been sanctioned for Tumin-Lingee constituency in which the road to Kokaley has also been included. “We have never held back in fulfilling the demands of the people as the government has provided everything for the people under its pro-poor initiatives”, said Mr Gyatso.  
He further appealed to the people not to believe people who are misguiding the innocent in the villages and to think for themselves. Responding to the public demand for construction of Kokaley Mandir, the MLA said that he will contribute on his part but the villagers must also put in efforts to construct the Kokaley Mandir.  The MLA also informed that the upgradation of the Kokaley Pry School has already been approved.
Students who have exceled in their studies and other activities were presented tokens of appreciation by the chief guest on the day.
The function was also attended by AD HRDD, DP Sharma, CMO Dr. KT Lepcha, zilla and panchayat members, SMC, teachers and students and the local gentry.
