GANGTOK, 12 Dec: A new organization of the Bihari community of Sikkim was formed today, a press release informs. Named “Sikkim Bihari Trade & Social Organisation”, the organisartion was formalized at Saramsa Garden, Ranipool, today at a function attended by around 300 people from all over the State.
The meeting was presided over by Bijay Gupta from Namchi, had Ram Pujan Singh [founder president & patron of Sikkim Bihari Jagran Manch] as chief guest and Baliram Prasad of Ranipool as special guest, the release informs.
An adhoc committee of the organization was formed with Jai Narayan Yadav of Daragaon as president, Bijay Gupta of Namchi as vice president, Usman Hussain of Pakyong and Anil Thakur of Namchi as vice presidents and Anand Prasad [Ranipool] as general secretary, it is informed.
The press release announcing the formation of the new organization explains that the need for another organization of the community was felt because the existing Sikkim Bihari Jagran Manch which was formed 19 years ago “has completely failed to discharge its duties and responsibilities”.
