GANGTOK, 09 Dec: The second Football Challenge Tournament [Constituency level] in memory of Late Mr and Mrs Laxuman Alley Manger of 6th Mile, Tadong was inaugurated on 08 December.
A press release informs that the main objective of this tournament is to promote football and sports among the youth, discourage use of drugs and alcohol and to help in the healthy development of youth of the area.
The first match was played between Dzongri Veterans and Tadong Yargay Veterans in which the former defeated the latter 03-02.
In the second match Santi Sewa Samiti trounced 6th Mile Tadong 04-01, the release mentions.
The chief guest on the occasion was Ongda Bhutia [ex-Mondal of Tadong] who was accompanied by Councilor Bhasker Basnet as the guest of honour. MLA of Upper Tadong constituency, DB Thapa, Parvat Gurung [Councilor], members of Tadong Yargay Association-Senior Citizen and the public of the locality were present on the day.
The tournament will conclude on 25 December.
