GANGTOK, 12 Dec: A day-long training and demonstration programme on Management of Giant African Snail was conducted by Integrated Pest Management, (IPM) team of State Bio-Control Lab, Tadong on 09 December at Manglee and Gagyoung GPU, South Sikkim.
A press release informs that around 100 farmers of Manglee and Gagyoung and nearby villages along with the field functionaries of the FS&ADD and HCCDD, Panchayat of Gagyoung, Sripatam, Namphok and Manglee attended the training programme.
Farmers were trained on clean and healthy management of Giant African Snail and its damage and control measures under IPM strategy. They were informed about Integrated Pest Management concepts for Pest and Disease Management in Citrus Fruits and collection methods through Trapping of Giant African Snail. Demonstration of know-how of various bio-pesticides and botanical pesticides against various diseases and pests of Citrus plantation was also part of the training, the release mentions.
