SINGTAM, 12 Dec: Youth Intervention HIV/AIDS awareness program for East district concluded today special sessions at Bhasmay Junior High School and Rhenock Khamdong JHS. The awareness programme, initiated by Sikkim State AIDS Control Society, has been carried out in all four districts of the State. In East Sikkim, Red Ribbon Club Badhaichha Creation, the “campaign host”, has been making the round of schools since 24 September. With its conclusion, the drive covered 84 schools in the east Sikkim.
The program today was attended by the Headmasters, school staff and students of both the schools. Praveen Pradhan, president RRC Badhaichha Creation, and Pramod Pradhan, associate member, conducted the awareness program, it is informed.
The awareness program included interactive sessions on substance abuse, life skills, STD, depression, early child marriage and related themes. The students were drawn in with games and quiz sessions during which they were inspired towards an optimistic approach to life. [from SHITAL PRADHAN]
