GANGTOK, Jan 29: The second day of the last session of the Eighth Sikkim Legislative Assembly concluded today with the passing of two new Bills and one amendment Bill along with the first Supplementary Demand for Grants for current financial year 2013-14 of Rs. Rs.14677.47 lakh and Vote on Account for the period of six months of Rs.276821.86 lakh starting from April to September for the financial year 2014-15.
The Chief Minister Pawan Chamling who is also in-charge of Finance, Revenue and Expenditure Department tabled the First Supplementary Demand for Grants and Vote on Account for another six months on Tuesday in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly unanimously without discussion.
The Chief Minister while presenting the Vote on Account for another six months on Tuesday informed the floor of the house that the annual plan for financial year 2014-15 and Demands for Grants has not yet been finalized and will take some time and in pursuance of clause (1) sub-clause (a) of the Article 206 of the Constitution of India, the Vote on Account has been prepared for presentation to the Legislative Assembly pending consideration of the details for Grants for the year 2014-15.
Besides these two financial bills, the Legislative Assembly also passed two new legislations ‘The Places of Pilgrimage Management Bill’ and ‘The Sikkim Land Bill’ and one amended legislation unanimously.
