Legislators meet, take stock and discuss emerging scenario

GANGTOK, 30 Jan: Sikkim Democratic Front [SDF] held a closed door meeting of Legislators and senior party members in Gangtok on Wednesday evening which was chaired by party president and Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling. This was in progression of the closing session of the Legislative Assembly session.
In a press release, Lok Sabha MP, PD Rai informs that the meeting discussed various issues of political significance and emerging scenario in Sikkim and India. Various members contributed to the discussion and thanked the Chief Minister for leading the party and government in the most effective way during the current term.
They affirmed their total dedication in working for the party with full unity to win all the seats in the upcoming elections scheduled for April-May this year, the release informs.
The party discussed some of the acts of violence and intimidation of people in various parts of the state by “rowdy elements of SKM moving around in jeeps and motorcycles”, the MP mentions further adding that the motive behind this is to create fear in the minds of the people.
“The Legislators urged the Chief Minister to take stern police action especially in checking the identity of those moving around”, he adds.
The Chief Minister in his address spoke of how the challenges are to be met. He also said that our rallies must be peaceful and show how different we are in securing the peace and security of the people of Sikkim, the release mentions.
Dates for some of the high level meetings of the party were also discussed and finalized, it is informed.
