South District observes National Voters’ Day

GANGTOK, 25 Jan [IPR]: The South District observed National Voters’ Day today at DAC Conference Hall, Namchi. The District Collector, South, Prabhakar Verma, present as the chief guest on the occasion, distributed PVC Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to newly enrolled voters of Namchi Singhithang Constituency. Badges with the slogan “Proud to be a Voter - Ready to Vote” were also distributed and the Voters’ Pledge was administered to the new voters.
The DC in his keynote address said that youth are the “vibrant partners” of democracy. He added that the motive behind celebrating the day is to enhance the voter enrolment level until all voters are registered across India. SDM, South, Karma R. Bonpo, in his welcome address congratulated the New Voters and requested for their cooperation and participation in the electoral process.
