GANGTOK, 30 Jan: Governor Shriniwas Patil has extended warm greetings to the people of Sikkim, and the Tamang Community in particular, on the propitious occasion of Sonam Lochhar.
As per an official communique, the Governor has said, “The celebration of Sonam Lochhar marks the beginning of a new year and a new season. It is also an occasion to showcase our rich cultural diversity. On this day, people exchange warm wishes and greetings amongst friends, family members and relatives.
May this celebration help in preserving our rich cultural heritage, and may it be a herald of new beginning for the lives of the people of Sikkim.”
Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and Smt Tika Maya Chamling have also extended their warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of Sonam Lochhar.
The Chief Minister in his message has expressed that this festival provides the society an opportunity to share joy, peace and harmony.
