GANGTOK, 29 Jan: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Namthang, South Sikkim organized a health camp under Bagan (Wadi) Project for farmers of Kabrey, Kateng, Karek, Rabitar, Rabikhola, Nagi Deorali, Bokrang and nearby places of Namthang.
A press release informs that the programme started with the welcome note by Programme Coordinator, Tilak Gajmer. Zilla Upadakhshya, Devi Maya Baraily was present as the chief guest of the programme while Gram Vikas Adhikari, Robin Sewa was the guest of honour.
Doctors Dr. Twinkey Bhutia (Eye Specialist), Dr. Anju Rai, Dr. Binita Pariyar, Dr. Bijendra Rai (MD Ortho) and their team attended to patients at the camp, the release informs. A brief awareness programme on eye ailments was conducted by Dr. Twinkey Bhutia.
There were around 230 farmers present for their health check up. The camp was supported by two medical mobile units which carried out various blood tests, X- rays and other tests, it is informed.
Medicines and spectacles were also distributed to patients which were free of cost. Around 150 farmers were provided with glasses and medicines by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Namthang, South Sikkim, the release adds.
