Training on mushroom cultivation begins in South Sikkim

NAMCHI, 06 Dec: A three-month long skills up-gradation training on mushroom and vegetable cultivation for the unemployed women between the age group of 18 to 35 years of Jorethang Block started at Nandugaon, South Sikkim today. The training is being organized by Ratna Jyoti Club, Nandugaon and is sponsored by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Namchi.
The inaugural function today was attended by president of Ratna Jyoti Club, Tikaram Sharma, National Youth Corps volunteers of NYK Namchi, Ranjit Darjee and Nim Laki Lepcha and other members of the club. During the function the trainees were informed that NYK Namchi has sponsored this training programme with the objective to enable unemployed women to generate income and become self reliant.
It was also informed that NYK will be conducting similar trainings for women in 10 different blocks of South District and this is the second block of South District selected for the training programme.
