NAMCHI, 01 Dec: The 1st Dong Football Association (DFA) Cup Football Tournament 2013 was inaugurated by chief guest Chairman Labour Welfare Board, Passang R Sherpa at Dong, South Sikkim today.
While delivering the welcome address, president of the organizing committee, Arjun Rai stated that the tournament is being organized for the first time at Dong. He informed that the main objective behind organizing such a tournament is to promote football at the grassroots level and to encourage the village youth in sports.
The chief guest in his address congratulated the organizing committee and said that the initiative will provide a good platform to our rural talents and also inspire rural youth in games and sports.
During the programme various cultural performances were also presented. The inaugural match of the tourney was played between Siniolchu FC And Denzong FC in which the former won the match with the final score of 3-1.
On Monday, SAI Namchi will play against Dong FC in the first match while the next match of the day will be played between SAI Namchi and Kamrang FC.
