NAMCHI, 06 Dec: Chief Secretary R. Ongmu today visited the construction site of Ngadak Gumpa, Namchi in South Sikkim where the final touches are being given to the monastery which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 22.7 crore. The construction of the monastery started in 2009 and is scheduled to be inaugurated on 15 January 2014 by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling.
During her visit, the CS inquired after the construction works and directed workers not to compromise on quality. She also asked the concerned department and the committee members of the Gumpa to coordinate and complete the works by January.
Sikkim is a secular state and it is the state government’s policy to take up such mega projects to preserve and promote our religions, culture and customs, she said. The department’s officers and engineers along with the Gumpa committee share equal responsibilities, she stressed.
A member of the Gumpa Committee informed that prayers and preparations for the inaugural ceremony will begin from 13 January onwards. Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche from Shimla will arrive on 13 January and perform the Rabney on 14 January along with other Rinpoches and monks from different parts of Sikkim, it is informed.
Gunzang Rinpoche, Lachen Rinpoche and Alley Rinpoche will perform the Phurba Dupchen puja from 17-23 January. Wang will be distributed on 24-25 January.
The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Sangha MLA, Phitook Tsh. Lama, CE (B&H) Rinzing Bhutia, DC (S) Prabhakar Verma and other officers from the departments and the Gumpa Committee members.
