GANGTOK, 03 Dec: Nathula Border Traders Welfare Association conducted the election of its executive body at Hotel Golden Pagoda on 02 December.
A press release informs that 95% of the member traders were present in the election and participated in the voting process. The newly elected executive body of the association for the trading year 2014 comprises of Lopsang Tshering Bhutia and Dorjee Chwang Bhutia [advisors], Nimaphuty Lachungpa [president], Kessang Chukee [working president], Sonam Bhutia and Karma Laden [vice presidents], Anil Kumar Gupta [general secretary], Tenzing Bhutia [joint secretary], KN Bhutia and Wangdi Sherpa [treasurers].
The executive members are S. G. Gyatso [Kupup], Pema Gyaltsen Dopthapa, R. D. Bhutia, Sonam Donka Bhutia, Ratna Chettri, Aacha Chimila, Sonam Choden, Tenzing Sumtso, Ravi Chettri, Pema Seden, Sang Zangmu, Namgyal Bhutia, Anju Bhujel and Sonam Tshering Bhutia [Kupup].
The election concluded with a vote of thanks and assurance to work for issues related to traders, the release mentions.
After the grand closing of border trade through Nathula on 28 November at Sherathang, a get-together function was also organised for the suppliers, manufacturers and border traders at Marchak, East Sikkim on 30 November by the Association, it is added.
