GANGTOK, 05 Dec: St. Joseph’s School, Rhenock, today felicitated an ex-student, Manisha Thakuri, on her being conferred a Gold Medal for obtaining distinction in Master of Philosophy in English from the Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Andhra Pradesh.
Ms. Thakuri, the daughter of Jyoti and Amrit Thakuri of Kopchey, started her studies at SJS-Rhenock and completed her school education from Paljor Namgyal Girls School in Gangtok.
The Gold Medal, instituted in the name of Dr. Tamuku Rama Rao, and was handed over to Ms. Thakuri by the Chancellor of the Andhra Pradesh University and former Chief Justice, MN Venkata Chaliah, during the convocation of the Institute on 22 November, an SJS-Rhenock press release informs.
At her alma mater today, a short cultural programme was held along with introductory speeches and reading out of the citation by Principal Fr. Lawrence Monteiro.
