High altitude sickness claims trekker in Dzongri

GANGTOK, 29 Nov: A 35-year-old trekker who had developed symptoms of high altitude sickness on a Dzongri trek is reported to have succumbed to his condition yesterday. The deceased was reportedly part of a 7-member trekking group.
Ravi Gurung of Chowrasta, Darjeeling, is reported to have developed high altitude sickness yesterday and was being brought down to Yuksam. His condition however worsened and he passed away in Dzongri.
Yuksam-based Red Panda Tours & Travels today dispatched an 8-member evacuation team to Dzongri to bring down the dead body of the deceased trekker.
