GANGTOK, 01 Dec: A workshop on the Saathi programme under the Chief Minister’s Youth Empowerment & Self Reliant Mission-2013 was conducted at a local hotel here at Tadong on 30 November. The workshop was presided over by MP Lok Sabha, PD Rai while DIG Range, Akshay Sachdeva, Councillors, Director HRDD, Tsewang Gyatso and Project Director Sikkim AIDS Control Society also participated in the workshop.
A press release informs that the MP, PD Rai highlighted the need for eliminating alcohol and substance abuse from Sikkim. Project in-charge, Tempo Bhutia presented a brief overview of project Saathi. This was followed by open discussions on future programmes of Saathi. The issues which came up for discussion included, Winter Programme for Students, Identification of Resource Persons in all the four Districts.
It was also decided to impart training in counselling to the identified teachers. The ways and means of this training were deliberated upon. Fund raising for the project was also discussed, the release mentions.
