GANGTOK, 01 Dec: The Sadar police on 30 November landed itself a huge cache of contraband substances when it raided a medical store in Sichey here. Over 300 bottles of various types of cough syrups along with tablets were seized from the store in the raid which took place in the early afternoon of Saturday. The owner of the store has been arrested.
The raid was reportedly conducted on suspicion that the store was a ‘peddling point’ of such banned substances. Various medical items were seized in the raid, some of which are not banned or in the list of contraband substances. Among the seized contraband items are 300 bottles of Biscalyne cough syrup, 6 bottles of Koforest Syrup, 13 bottles of Tossex, 450 tablets of Alparazolam, 100 tablets of Lorazipam and 90 tablets of Chlorizipam. These items were part of a consignment which were being transported to the store from Siliguri when the police team landed at the store.
The accused has been booked under the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act.
