Lucknow Army and Share FC knocked out
NAMCHI, 10 Aug: Lucknow Army and Share Football Club of Kalimpong have been knocked out of the ongoing 68th Independence Cup Open football Tournament here at Singithang play ground Namchi, South Sikkim.
Two quarter final matches were played on Saturday where the first match was played between New Light Academy and Lucknow Army. NLA defeated Lucknow Army by a lone goal netted by M. Boicha Singh (3). With this victory, NLA has become the first team to reach the semifinal of the tourney.
In the second match, Namchi's Siniolchu FC continued their domination in the tourney. Siniolchu FC striker Enock Anand (20) scored a hattrick against Share Football Club of Kalimpong. The Namchi team thrashed Share FC 5-1 to enter the semis of the tournament.
Two matches will be played on Monday, where the first match will be played between Sikkim Police team and Darjeeling Teens FC team and the second match will be played between SAI Namchi and Kanchengunga FC of Siliguri.
Scheduled Tribe Welfare Board Chairman, Pem Tsh. Lama was the chief guest of the day while the match was also witnessed by JD S/W SYA Kamal Chettri, Additional Director Udai Gurung and officers from various departments.
