GANGTOK, 06 Aug [IPR]: Science & Technology Minister Tshering Wangdi Lepcha inaugurated a Science Library at the UD&HD Minister, Development Area, on Tuesday.
While interacting with officials of Science and Technology along with the teachers of various schools from in-and-around Gangtok, the Minister said that the students should be benefited from the library and they should be motivated by the teachers and parents to visit the library. Although the library is small, it has a good collection of books for people from all walks of life, he said.
He suggested to the teachers to find out newer methods of teaching to make science interesting and exciting for students. He also urged them to motivate the students to visit such libraries and study centers which could help them to develop their knowledge further. He also thanked the Secretary and his officials for their efforts to reform and establish this library.
The Secretary Science and Technology, P T Euthenpa informed that the library has various types of books in different subjects including research and study materials on the state of Sikkim. He urged the people of the society to use the library to enhance their knowledge and also encouraged students to make use of the library which does not charge any fee from students.
The Special Secretary Science and Technology, Sarala Rai briefed about the background of the library.
