Federation of Consumer Associations of Sikkim meets, highlights LPG pricing issue

GANGTOK, 06 Aug: Federation of Consumers Association of Sikkim held a meeting at Hotel Mistree Mountain at Gangtok today, chaired by its president, Jayshree Pradhan.
As per a press release, the meeting discussed that the Federation would write to the Minister Food & Civil Supplies requesting for early implementation of the LPG price of Rs. 429.50 statewide which he had announced recently in the assembly session.
The meeting lauded the efforts of Chief Coordinator (State) Suresh K. Lama in raising a voice on behalf of all consumers of the state with regard to the LPG price issue. The book of accounts was submitted in the meeting and approved by the body.
It was decided that the posts lying vacant after the resignation of members who are government employees will be filled up in the next meeting and a statewide massive membership drive will also be initiated. Block level and school level consumer awareness program will also be initiated, the release mentions.
It was informed to the members that the Federation has become a  member of the State Consumer Protection Council. Further, it was added that consumers can now approach the Federation regarding any issue.
The Federation has decided to approach the concerned department for office accommodation. It was also informed to all the members that the Federation had also attended the meeting of the State Price Monitoring & Regulatory Committee on 04 August 2014 and expressed their views and suggestions, the release further adds.
