GANGTOK, 07 Aug: Sangha MLA Sonam Lama submitted representations to the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhawan today, a press release received from Mr. Lama’s team informs. He also submitted other memorandums to the Union Ministers of HRDD Smriti Irani and Jual Oram of Tribal Affairs on matters relating to socio-political and economic affairs of Sikkim.
In the representations submitted, Mr Lama has demanded the scrapping of the 97MW Tashiding Hydro Power Project slated over the Rathong Chu and the ones at Dzongu in North Sikkim. Apart from this, he has requested for the restoration of seat reservation for the Nepalese of Sikkimese origin in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly and preservation of Article 371 F of the Constitution of India and its sanctity at all costs.
In his representation to the HRDD Minister, the MLA has congratulated and expressed gratitude to Ms Irani for conceiving the proposal to include curriculums on the native history, culture and civilization of the North East India and its people.
