NAMCHI, 25 Mar [IPR]: The Returning Officer (South) as well as District Collector South, Prabhaker Verma informed that no nominations were filed today that is the sixth day of nomination filing in the South District.
Wednesday is the last day for filing nominations in the office of the RO and scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on 27 March from 11 am onwards informed the RO. 16 nominations have been filed in the South RO office so far, out of which SDF has filed 8 nominations and Congress has filed 8 nominations, he added.
Informing more on other election related activities, Mr Verma said that each constituency has been divided into 16 sectors with 16 Sector Magistrates and each Sector Magistrate has one flying squad team for 10-12 polling stations (PSs) on an average. The maximum time taken for any team to reach any PS in his sector is one and a half hours, informed the RO.
In addition to this there are 8 Static Surveillance Team (SST) having 8 different check post points and there are 8 Assistant Expenditure Officers (AEOs) in the field for each constituency.
At DEO level, there are 8 Accounting Team and 8 Video Viewing Team (VVT) for calculating the day to day expenses of the candidates of all political parties. One district level Control Room has been functioning since 05 March with the toll free number and landline number for receiving any election related queries or complaints.
The Expenditure Observer, BS Negi has already visited the DEO Office and South District while the General Observer, Dr R Selvaraj will be arriving today in South Sikkim.
The RO further informed that all the teams are working in the field 24/7 and if any complaints are to be made, people can contact these field teams. Regarding the vehicle permit, the RO informed that after filing the nominations, it is necessary for the party candidates to take vehicle permit from the RO for campaigning and canvassing activity. He informs that candidate handbook or CD is available in the District Administrative Centre on payment basis through Bank Receipt (BR).
