GANGTOK,
25 Mar: Amar Subba, the ‘Marathon Man’ of Sikkim, called on Governor Shriniwas
Patil at Raj Bhawan today.
A
press release informs that the Governor greeted him and praised his courage, conviction,
physical endurance and his athleticism. The Governor was also pleased to know
about various fundraising activities undertaken by Mr Subba for various
charitable organisation of the state.
While
interacting with the athlete, the Governor enquired about the circumstances
under which he started running long distance marathons and asked him to prepare
for competitive marathons organised in various cities across the country every
year.
Amar
Subba, who has recorded his name in the Limca Book of Records for his solo
marathon along the Himalayas covering a total distance of 440 km in seven days which
he set on 12 January 2011, scaling an altitude up to 12,980 ft., apprised the Governor
about the upcoming events and his preparations, the release mentions.
The
Governor congratulated him on his achievements and assured all possible help in
his future endeavours, it is added.
