MANGAN, 26 Mar: Four candidates filed their nomination
papers in North Sikkim for the upcoming Assembly elections today on the final
day of doing so.
The candidates are Samdup Lepcha from Sikkim Krantikari
Morcha (SKM) for Lachen-Mangan constituency, Karma Samten Bhutia from Bharatiya
Janta Party (BJP) for Dzongu constituency and Topden Bhutia (Independent) from
Kabi Lungtsok constituency. Interestingly, Hishey Lachungpa of SKM [not to be
confused with former Minister Hissey Lachungpa of SDF who is contesting this
time from Gangtok] also filed his nomination papers for Lachen-Mangan
constituency today.
As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, a
party can file more than one nomination as long as the dummy candidates
withdraw their nominations by the last date for withdrawal of nomination
papers.
They filed their nomination today at District Administrative
Centre Mangan where the Returning Officer (RO) North, TN Kazi along with Asst
Returning Officer, Raj Yadav received their nomination papers.
