Single-window opened in South DAC for issuance of certs, permits and permissions

NAMCHI, 20 Jan [IPR]: The South District Administration inaugurated a single window system for issuance all certificates, permits and permissions by the district administration. The system was launched today by DC South, Prabhaker Verma, at the South District Administrative Centre today in the presence of Namchi SDM Ravindra Kumar, ADC South AP Rai, ADC [Dev] Benu Gurung, SDPO-Namchi Gigi Norbu, ACF-South, Asst. Collector South  and all other officers & staffs of district administration as well as some public.
The new system will prove a boon for the people of the district and will add much more to their convenience in getting certificates, permits and permissions issued by the district administration. This will also save time and effort by expediting the process and also bringing transparency in the system.
The single-window system in the district is the initiative of SDM Ravindra Kumar who is looking after certification works under overall supervision of the District Collector. In the past, there was steamlined system for the issue of COI which was being dealt from the single point of contact under supervision of  ADC South, but all other certificates and permits coming under SDM Namchi were dealt by different staff like Office Superintendent, Peshkar, UDC  (General Section) during different stages of scrutiny.
So people had to run from chair to chair to get their work done. Sometimes people had to come the next day due to delay and this was causing much inconvenience to them as well as imposing extra burden on their pockets in the form of transport charges and loss of productive days  in coming from far away rural areas.
So, since joining in September 2013, the SDM wanted to streamline the process and bring out some improvement in the prevailing system for the convenience of the people, but due to shortage of staff, specially trained staff, and delay due to other works going on in parallel, it took many months to realize the target and finally, today the system has started operating.
Under the new system, people have to approach this Single Window with their application and relevant documents and this will be single point of contact for receiving applications as well as issuing required certificates. After submitting the applications, people can return to the same window after one to three hours (depending on work load in the district administration and other factors) to collect their certificates. The staff designated at the Single Window will go to the concerned officers/staff of the district administration to get all other formalities done and prepare the certificate and keep it ready to handover to the applicants when they come to collect the same.
For further convenience of the people, the list of certificates and permission issued from district administration as well as list of documents required for each such certificate have been displayed outside Single Window. The single window is located beside the office of the Namchi SDM on the ground floor of the South District Administrative Centre.
It is expected that the new system will meet the hopes and expectations of the people of the area.
