GANGTOK,
22 Jan: Eastern Army Commander, Lt Gen MMS Rai, reviewed the Operational
preparedness of troops deployed along the international border in Sikkim and
the security situation in the area. He was accompanied by the Corps Commander,
Trikshakti Corps, Lt Gen KJ Singh, AVSM and Maj Gen YVK Mohan, SM GOC Black Cat
Divison.
A
press release informs that though this was his maiden visit as Eastern Army
Commander, Lt Gen MMS Rai, has served in the Black Cat Division earlier and is
an old hand at Sikkim.
The
Corps Commander briefed the Army Commander on the operational and logistics
issues. The Corps Commander assured the Army Commander that the Trishakti Corps
is fully geared to meet all challenges.
The
release mentions that the Army Commander visited forward areas and interacted
with cross section of troops deployed in forward area. The Army Commander
travelled to Nathu La and congratulated all ranks on their morale and
motivation in performance of their duties in the exacting weather conditions on
the border.
He
also laid a wreath at the War Memorial at Nathu La In
keeping with the tradition. The Army Commander also gave gifts to the Chinese
troops deployed at Nathu La.
The
Army Commander appreciated the enormous efforts put in by all ranks of
Trishakti Corps in maintaining peace and tranquility along Indo-China Border,
the release adds.
