GANGTOK, 20 Jan: Sikkim Democratic Front’s Upper Burtuk constituency in-charge, DR Thapa, carried out a door-to-door outreach programme in the constituency on Sunday, urging people there to continue supporting SDF’s agenda for development and security in Sikkim. Upper Burtuk, it may be recalled does not have a representative in the legislative assembly at present; the elected incumbent, PS Tamang [Golay], having resigned from the SDF and thus also getting disqualified from the MLA berth.
Yesterday, Mr. Thapa also inaugurated a party office at Swastik mobilising the youth and women’s front to step up work for the party and the people. Addressing the gathering at the party office at Swastik, he remarked that the past 20 years in Sikkim under Chief Minister Pawan Chamling have witnessed unprecedented progress in both human resource and infrastructural development.
“The Sikkim Democratic Front is going to set a new record of a straight fifth term as the democratically elected government in Sikkim with more development aspects and well being of Sikkimese people,” he said.
