Eastern Army Commander calls on Governor and CM


GANGTOK, 22 Jan: Eastern Army Commander, Lieutenant General MMS Rai, called on the Governor Shriniwas Dadasabeb Patil, and Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and briefed them on the security aspects in the state.
He called on the Chief Minister at his official residence Mintokgang, this evening here in the capital.
An official release informs that during the brief meeting, Lieutenant General MMS Rai, expressed his pleasure and happiness to see the state of Sikkim striving forward towards the path of prosperity and credited the Chief Minister for the overall development of the state.
The changes in the state of Sikkim and the developments are very visible and other infrastructural development which are taking place in Sikkim are commendable, added the army commander.
The State government and the Army have always had a cordial relationship and the Lieutenant General assured that this will continue.
He also expressed his happiness during the meet about Sikkim Scouts Battalion which has been introduced in the state and said this is a good way to bring about discipline and integration among the youth of Sikkim, it is informed.
He also assured full co-operation from the army to the Chief Minister, and his government, while Mr. Chamling added that the Army and the state government have always worked cordially in Sikkim and maintained a good relationship.
Mr. Chamling also expressed his happiness and satisfaction at having Scouts Battalion in the state.        Lieutenant General MMS Rai also presented the Chief Minister with a memento.
The Lieutenant Commander MMS Rai also called on the Governor of Sikkim, Shriniwas Dadasaheb Patil today. He was accompanied by Lieutenant General, KJ Singh, Commander Trishakti Corps, and Major General YVK Mohan, GOC Black Cat Division.
A press release from Raj Bhawan informs that the Governor greeted the Army Officers and said that the nation was grateful to the members of the Armed Forces for their sacrifice in maintaining the security of the nation.
