GANGTOK, 22 Jan [IPR]: The State Election Commission has announced the by-elections to one Territorial Constituency and two Gram Panchayat Wards in Sikkim. By-elections will be held for Ramthang Tangyek Territorial Constituency of North Sikkim which is reserved for Scheduled Tribe [ST] candidates this time.
The two Gram Panchayat Wards are Lower Bullung under Karmatar Gyaten GPU in West Sikkim which is reserved for the Most Backward Classes [MBC] category and Upper Paney Phesang ward under Phensang GPU in North Sikkim which is reserved for the ST category.
The last date for filing nominations is 28 January while the last date for scrutiny of nominations is 29 January and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is 01 February. The poll, if necessary, will be taken on 22 February and the election process will be completed by 28 February.
