GANGTOK, 21 Jan: Dr. Shova Kanti Thegim [Lepcha] memorial Trust has invited entries for the Dr Shova Kanti Thegim Memorial Award 2014.
A press release informs that till last year, the award was confined to the state of Sikkim and with more impetus towards the development and furtherance of Nepali language and literature in the entire country, the trust has now resolved to expand the eligibility criteria for the award to writers and authors to states outside Sikkim as well.
In a meeting held on 18 January, the trust unanimously decided to cover writers belonging to Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts covering Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong, Gorubathan, Siliguri and Dooars of West Bengal who are residing in this area for a period not less than 10 years as on 31 December 2013 to begin with, which will gradually be extended to other states and regions in a phased manner, it is informed.
Books falling under the categories of novels, stories collection of short stories, poetry, criticism and plays in Nepali language and authored by any level of writer during the calendar year 2010, 2011 and 2012 are eligible.
The Trust has requested all the intending participants to send four copies of their books to the Trust’s Office on or before 28 February 2014.
