GANGTOK, 27 Dec: The MLA Tumin-Lingee, Ugen T Gyatso Bhutia laid the foundation stone of a club house of Yamuna Samaj at Pathuk basti in Tumin-Lingee constituency in East Sikkim on 24 December.
Delivering the welcome address, Panchayat President, KB Chettri informed that the foundation and leveling will be done through MGNREGA. The president Yamuna Samaj in his address thanked the government, area MLA and panchayat for their support and informed that Yamuna Samaj will undertake more activities in the coming days.
The Samaj felicitated the area MLA along with four other social workers namely, Shiva Kumari Rai for donating land for the club house, zilla panchayat, Hemraj Adhikari, panchayat president, KN Koirala, KB Chettri and Sanchit Chettri.
Addressing the function, the chief guest urged NGOs and clubs to work for the welfare of the society and to play an active role in enhancing the literacy rate in the area. He also announced a grant of Rs 1 lakh to Yamuna Samaj and reassured people about the installation of the Hanuman statue at Pathuk which was announced earlier.
