GANGTOK, 27 Dec: Eight monks [Champos] from different monasteries of Sikkim completed a 3 year, 3 months and 3 days meditation and came out of their meditational retreat from the Dubda Meditation Centre of Taktse Palace today. The auspicious occasion was presided over by Tulku Pema of Enchey Monastery.
While addressing the media today, secretary for the Tsuklakhang Trust [Gangtok], Namgyal Tshering Bhutia, informed that since the formation of the trust in 1989, it has been facilitating the meditational retreat of monks at the Dubda Meditation Centre. He informed that a total of 155 Champos have successfully completed the meditation at the Centre. He added that by February 2014, another batch of 16 Champos from different monasteries are expected to undertake meditation at the centre.
Mr Bhutia informed that in the year 1989, Chogyal Tenzing Wangchuk Namgyal urged Chatral Rinpoche of Sikkim to take charge of the Dubda Meditation Centre. At present, Tulku Pema Kundol of Enchey Monastery is in charge of the centre while Lopen Lakchung Tshering Lepcha of Khechopalri also looks after the centre from time to time, he added.
