NAMCHI, 31 July: A general meeting of the South District Football Association (SDFA) was held here today chaired by former national football player Panden Bhutia. This was the second meeting of the association since it dissolved the executive body [to release govt servant members] and appointed an adhoc executive body.
It was informed today that the adhoc committee will continue in office till elections are held. The meeting also discussed to oragisnation of the Independence Cup 2014 tournament and other aspects of the association.
All the new adhoc members were welcomed and congratulated by members of the association. The adhoc body has former MLA Binod Rai as president, vice presidents B. Tshring Bhutia, Raju Pakhrin, and Robin Rai, Arjun Rai as general secretary, Palzor Bhutia treasurer, Madan Rai, JS Sailesh Pradhan, Sanju Rai, Publicity Secretary Prakash Rai, Ongden Bhutia and Palden Bhutia, Ongdup Bhutia, Rabin Pradhan and K. Bhutia (Pema) as advisors.
At the meeting, former National Football player Panden Bhutia pointed out that there was a lot of good talent in rural areas of Sikkim and that their game and skills need wider exposure and grooming, a responsibility towards which the SDFA should measure up.
