GANGTOK, 27 July: The Agriculture Technology Management Agency, (ATMA-East) organized a co-ordination meeting for the Core Team of Strategic Research Extension Plan, (SREP) of East District on Saturday.
A press release informs that the SREP of the district will be prepared based on field data collected by the designated team who are members of the Core Team and it comprises of officers from various departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Cooperative, SIMFED ,KVK, IMN, IPM, etc.
After an Open House discussion, the Core Team the Agro- Ecological Situation, (AES) was chosen for the High, Mid and Low altitude and representative villages namely Nimechen, Assam Linzey and Lower Samdung. The Core Team comprising of 21 members from Agriculture and Allied Sectors will be visiting the selected villages on 18, 25 and 29 August 2014 for the collection of primary data.
The data will be collected on predetermined format for farming based system, SWOT analysis, gap filling, trend analysis, cropping system, research strategies, major extension gaps, analysis of problems, IPM and INM, organic farming etc, the release informs.
During the meeting, Director State Agriculture Management and Extension Training Institute, (SAMETI), Sherab L. Dorjee highlighted the importance of SREP. In her address she urged the field functionaries to collect the data sincerely and with dedication so that the farming community can be benefitted.
Likewise, Project Director, ATMA-East, Asha Lama highlighted on the preparation procedure of SREP for the East district. She urged the Block Technology Managers, (BTMs) to collect correct primary data which will reflect while compiling the SREP. Further she said that the SREP Hand Book can be used as a reference book for the next five years for Planners, Decision Makers, Extensionaries, etc of Agriculture and Allied Sectors.
The programme was coordinated by Deputy Project Director, ATMA –East, Bina Rai while the vote of thanks was given by Block Technology Manager, East, Pratima Silal.
