GANGTOK, 29 July: A one-time grant of Rs. 2 lakh will be made to a married couple in which either of the spouses or both are disabled. The Social Justice Department has announced this grant of award under the Sikkim Grant of Award for Marriages with Disabled Persons Rules, 2013.
A married couple will now be eligible for this award in the event that both persons or any one of the couple is certified as disabled. This award is in addition to the monthly Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension or ‘subsistence allowance’. This scheme is deemed to have come into force from 01 April, 2014.
