MANGAN, 29 July: Deputy Speaker Sonam
Gyatso Lepcha, who also happens to be the concerned area MLA, inaugurated a 5-room
school building at Lingdong Secondary School on Monday.
The new building is funded under Multi
Sector Development Program scheme and constructed at the cost of Rs. 47 lakh. The
Speaker handed over the school building to the School Managing Committee
Lingdong SS and dedicated the school building to the students and people of
Dzongu.
MLA Mr Lepcha, who was present as the chief
guest, urged the panchayat members of the area to follow up the process of
upgradation of the school to senior secondary level as land for the same has
already been provided by the villagers.
He further appealed to all the teachers and
guardians for proper coordination for the school's development. Warning
teachers against indulging in politics he said that teachers are the highest
paid government servants in the state and should not play with the future of
the students.
The students of Lingdong SS, Children World
Academy and Karang Chu Bong Club Lingdong presented a colourful cultural
program on the occasion.
Also on the day, the 68th Independence Cup
football tournament Late Sonam Choda Memorial Cup was inaugurated by the Deputy
Speaker.
Present on the day were Sub Divisional
Magistrate Dzongu, Gyas Pega, Joint Director HRDD North, Sonam Lepcha,
Assistant Engineer HRDD, Chandra Bahadur Chettri, Assistant Director HRDD, N.T
Lepcha, Panchayat Members, School Managing Committee and Teaching Staff of
Lingdong SS and local gentries.
