GANGTOK, 29 July: Drukpa Tshechi and Guru Rinpoche’s Thrunkar Tshechu this year will be observed at Dotapu Chorten Monastery at Deorali with the recitation of the holy Kagyur scriptures from 31 July to 06 August.
This was informed today by the chairperson of the organizing Committee Passong Namgyal during a press conference.
“Drukpa Tshechi is the auspicious occasion on which Sakyamuni Buddha gave his teachings first to his disciples and Guru Rinpoche Thrungkar is the celebration of the birth of Guru Padmasambhava,” explained Mr Namgyal.
He said the program for this year will witness the complete reading of Kagyur (translations) scriptures in 108 volumes by monks of Chorten Monastery.
The statue of Guru Padmasambhava especially made and consecrated by Dodrupchen Rinponche will be taken out in a religious procession followed by the rare Guru Terzoet scriptures in 60 volumes from Chorten Gonpa at 8: 30 a.m.
