A press release informs that the programme was attended by 80 participants comprising of hotel operators, shopkeepers, pack animal operators, porters, mountain cooks, homestay operators, trekking guides, assistant guides, etc from Okhrey-Ribdi-Buriakhop region, West Sikkim.
The topics covered during the programme were Overview of Tourism, Adventure Tourism, Ecotourism, Tourism Oriented approach, Positive attitude, Etiquette and grooming, Character, Integrity, Time Management and Marketing
The main subjects covered in the programme were Ecotourism, Home Stay Marketting and Adventure Tourism. Organizers and staff of the Department also visited and inspected various homestays in the area, the release mentions.
The programme was organized by Deputy Director (West) T&CA Deptt., Mingma Wangdi and Trekking Officer, T&CA Deptt, Tsewang Ngodup. The resource persons were Manil Raj Rai [Free lance motivator], Tsering Dorjee [vice president TAAS] and Ms. Sandhya [Ecotourism, JICA assisted SBFP].
The programme was attended by MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, DN Sherpa as the chief guest along with Zilla Panchayat members, Gram Panchayat members.
